Nice,I like it!
So where is everybody planning to fish first?
Last year I was up off the anchor ice by the Isle La Motte bridge getting some perch. Several of the people there were using bibbits and the wooden hand lines, I had my riversider but this year I will def be doing that technique. Never done it this way before so I'm looking forward to starting my year with something totally new.

That's a bold prediction, but i hope its a correct one. Drove past a small pond (maybe 6 feet deep) that was all but completely skimmed over the other morning. I will be fishing where ever safe ice is once I hear about it.

There are a few ponds down here that freeze up pretty early. Greenwood had 6" on december 18th last year. Luckily, I have a pond at my house so I can keep an eye on the ice and punch holes to check progress! I saw one pond sunday that was partially skimmed over.

Do you recommend a Strikemaster over a Nils? Springfield must be locked up by early December huh? I'd like to hit that place again :$

I personally like my rig, I don't skim my holes, for a few reasons. I have noticed that the nils leave way too much slush in them to get your jig through. Fin bore cleans the hole enough to do so but at the same time leave enough in it to camoflage you, strikemaster does the same. Personal preference.

Do you have a fin bore Bobby? Isn't yours a sweet customer rig?! All I know is this year I need a 6" power auger (no more bulky 8" Jiffy) so I'm open to suggestions for what is the best bang for the buck.
Picking up a ultra light JM Meatstick after work, can't wait!

I bought and echo tree tapper head for 200 bucks on craigslist and took a 6 inch fin bore hand auger and made an adaptor. I love it, it's lighter than any other auger i've used which suits my fishing style of run and gun.
