All I know is this year I need a 6" power auger (no more bulky 8" Jiffy) so I'm open to suggestions for what is the best bang for the buck. I have an 8" jiffy as well. Cuts like a beast but it us a bit heavy. I just say good exercise! |

I'm too old and weak for that heavy thing now days! |

At 30+ pounds you have to be in shape to lug it around! I'm happy with its performance. I guess I'll see how it performs in year two.

How's everybody feeling about the Dec 10th early ice date? There may be ice right now but not good! Temps for daytime in the 40's all next week but 20's at night. Could be worse!  |

So how about the 10th? Might have to get my boat out... I haven't fogged my motor yet...might not be a bad idea. Some of those central VT lakes or NEK lakes must lock up sooner than later,yeah? I'll travel to get on some ice. |

I'm still seeing beaver ponds locked up down here while hunting even with the warmer temps. The water is plenty cold its just a matter of being sheltered from the wind. The 10 day forecast still doesn't look great...

Just checked NOAA website, Colchester Reef water temp is 47 degrees.....it's a long way to 32 .
