Recycled Fish has been putting on the "Fish-A-Thon" for several years in hopes to promote a lifestyle of stewardship both on and off the water and to raise awareness with local issues. We chose to join this event mainly because we love fishing (and will get to for 24 straight hours) but also to promote something that hits home for the both of us. Vermont has some outstanding trout spawning tributaries to the Connecticut River that are blocked by culverts. Dylan spends a good deal of his summer performing culvert assessments for Vermont Fish & Wildlife checking for feasibility of fish passage. Many culverts have a freefall or cascade at the outlet that is impassible for even adult fish because of improper placement, erosion, deformation, or several other factors. By donating to our cause you are helping us promote sustainable fisheries through catch and release, green fishing products, and many many other worthy causes as well as increasing the amount of spawning habitat through proper culvert placement.
