First post on this forum.
Tyler, Richmond, Virginia.
My family has a camp in Milton directly across from Savage. Camp was settled by my grandmother's side in the early 1800's. Blessed to have it since then. Her family ran dairy farms in the area (shocking I know) until her father drowned off our camp when she was a small girl. I was fortunate enough to catch my first fish with his rod/reel when I was a boy. That side of the family were all Wood's. My grandfather went to UVM, was on original member of the VT Air National Guard after WWII. My father and mother met at UVM as did my uncle and his wife. USAF took my parents to Plattsburgh where he flew tankers. AFter that he landed a job at Dulles in Virginia.
We've been coming up forever. Typically, as an adult, I only get up a week a summer. I fish for bass/pike/perch routinely. Never anything huge but enough fun to go around.
Now I' have my older boy who is 5 and he's having fun getting into it. I want to get him on crappie, sunfish (which we catch intermittently while perch fishing), and catfish.
This summer I want to target larger perch which means getting a little deeper. I always catch then near shore but they're much smaller now than when I was a kid. Seems the larger ones are deeper.
I also plan on rigging some rods for bowfin and catfish for a change. Figure why not!
I'm an avid waterfowler and deer hunter. I intend one day to make a point of duck hunting the lake .... been saying that for years.
Looking forward to posting on here.
