It will be an individual event. 1 person per shanty $30.00 Entry Fee $5.00 of that will go to winner take all Big Fish this is going to bite you in the ass. pink and her oldman need 2 shanties, me and my girl , justin and his, wey and his daughter my point is a cheater is a cheater they will do it regaurdless but with this new rule my wanting to be on the ice with a friend ,family or honey means we cannot enjoy the day together because we want to eliminate a cheater i can give you a big list of how to cheat and not share a shanty with someone the only way to eliminate a cheater is to make everyone that is fishing aware that the money they are stealing is not from VSHTS you are giving it out anyway but the bragging rights and cash are being stolen from them if you don't want someone stealing from you turn them in even if you era not going to win next time maybe you will i would also make the announcement if you are going to cheat tell us in advance we will have your name engraved on the trophy and don't even have to fish you will be surprised at how many people will keep there eyes open

this is nikki, i didnt know that these tournaments were to win thousands of dollars so to me if someone needs to cheat at fishing they are a sad, sad person. but what happens when someone like me only gets in the tournament to spend time with my honey and not focusing on winning. also until i moved up here i never ice fished or actually fished so is there going to be a beginner class because i dont know anything about bait or the type of rods i just pay the money to spend time with my better half.

Pretty sure this is how most panfish tourney's are held, as a matter of fact I think they have a 3 meter distance that you have to keep from one another. Don't see the sense in getting upset at one rule. Just hope the weather is great and we can all stand outside and shoot the sh** and catch some fish.

Well, for one...if 2 people are in 1 shanty, who gets credit for the fish that are caught? Second, an individual tourney like this and others is just that...an Individual tourney....1 Fishtrap, 1 fisherman/woman, 1 entry....there should be a distance rule, just my opinion....want to fish with someone/you significant other, spend 200 bucks and get them their own shanty to fish out of....most anglers like myself have enough gear to share with a small army, so justifying a separate shanty for another person makes sense.....I'm not saying that I am one of the best....but what is fair is fair....anyone else care to back this up?

I totally agree with you chris, the same as other trap attacks in the past.

I agree with you Chris. Never fished a tournament like this but it is one more safeguard towards keeping people honest. Not saying that anyone is going to cheat... Personally, I catch more of the fish that bite while I am alone! Less distractions...

Plus I have to say, if there was any word of people that have figured out a way around the rules, I would cancel my 6-7 hour trip to come up and fish....not that I am a big name fisherman with big name sponsors or anything...I do it for the love of the sport.....

Dody I'm very sorry you are out just like that... I assure you, we thought long and hard about this rule after concerns were raised last year; we are never going to be able to please everyone. As for the distance rule, we are not going to impose that. If someone needs a hand, breaks a pole or wants to eat lunch together they should be able to. we dont want to get that strick but when people are traveling multiple states and spending hard earned money to help support these events we can't over look they're concerns especially when it makes sense.

Pretty sure this is how most pan fish tourney's are held I didn't think this event/series was like most other pan fishing tourneys. I thought it was more for fun and to help promote the sport of pan fishing and VT Sportsman. I I haven't been to enough tournaments to make a comparison.

If 2 people are in a shanty the person who catches the fish would be the one who gets the credit. I would not give out my fish to anybody, nor would I accept a fish from anybody who offered, even inside the privacy of my own 2 man and I do not believe any honest fisherman competing in a tournament would. I understand the cheating part and this being a way to avoid it but to me it seems to be a very hardcore and aggressive rule that absolutely takes away some of the fun.

I understand this is the rule and why it was put into place but I am giving you my opinion. This is the first time I became aware of the 1 shanty rule. I had plans to fish with some of my buddies from a large frabil headquarters shanty. Obvisouly I will have mine but jumping in theirs would have been a fun option.
I think Kristen had more fun watching me catch fish at Larabess than I did last year.
so, say I am fishing with somebody who does not have a shanty. If they need to come inside to warm up does that mean I will have to leave my shanty?
I know one person who will be very disappointed she can't fish the derbies with me, it's been talked about for a year now. Hopefully it's a nice day.

I would hope people would understand that this rule is to protect us the fishermen. The tourney has such a high percentage pay out that if somebody cheats they are stealing from all of us. Please try to be respectful of what it takes to put something like this together and ask yourself if this rule really is going to effect how many fish you catch. Just my opinion
