Went for a trip today. Figured ice fishing was not the best idea so I headed to camp to grab my kayaks. The ice looked good so I punched a hole off the dock. A crack shot out and crossed the entire lake. Water then seeped through so we decided to head for smaller waters. Still 3".
Headed to a small pond in the mountains. Ice was good off shore but just skimmed to get on. Decided to head more south to the river. Springfield was skimmed over so I fished the Black. Didn't mark any fish anywhere so headed on. Fished Morey from the kayaks. Not race of ice around and the weeds weren't very vibrant. Only saw small gills in the weeds that were still standing. We headed back to camp. There, we got on, punched holes and fished for a few minutes. Didn't feel like risking my life to catch dink perch and pickerel so we headed back home.
