I know it hasnt been good weather but im sure that doesnt stop us. Anyone catching those trout yet? I hear this is the best time to catch the bigger ones, with the water being dirty and faster.

If you can find spots that aren't too high and washed out it can be good, the water is still cold so you have to fish low and slow... The brooks up where I fish don't really turn on for a few weeks after the opener but the bigger rivers can hold some nice fish this time of year. Early season sucker spawn imitations can work well since the rainbows eat those pretty heavily when they swim up the rivers into the headwaters to spawn in early May. Small spinners or HEAVY flies can do the trick, live bait is a sure bet early season when the water is really dirty too.

thank you for the good info. I probably won't fish the rivers until I feel safe around them haha. But with work I can easily find a stream or 2 before and after then the days off I'll fish for the crappies and gills.
