and never drain your Vexilar battery down to Zero before charging!!!!! What if it drains while fishing? I've always turned mine off when I'm not using it during overnight trips so I shouldn't have an issue running out of battery but if I did...does it not fully recharge?

Vexilar uses a sealed lead acid battery so like your boat or car if you drain it all the way it does not do well. You can get away with it a few times but shouldn't push your luck.

them are fighting words around here! everyone has their right to chose what equipment they use.....I have no qualms about Vexilar, except I would have had to spend a lot more money for a Vex that will do what my Marcum will.....

No I know, just having some fun , I'd actually like to try a marcum just to compare. Be happy to demo mine , next time you're up north. I think the big difference is that Marcum has a movable zoom , you can zoom to anyplace in the watercolumn. Not a big plus if you only fish in 10' or less but very useful at 20' or more gofish

Back to the tip on batteries. Battery care is essential in all your electronics. It is a suggested good practice to take your batteries/ electronics in each evening and top off the charge. Proper battery care will get you as many as 7 to 9 years on a batteries life. A little care goes along way.
