I tried some new territory on the Lake and was rewarded with some beautiful fish. I've been to this area 3 times. The first trip I took my father and we had a ball catching them. I think I have him hooked now. The next weekend I took my 8 year old nephew who reeled in a bunch including a largemouth that was close to 5 lbs. But, he was more proud of the "three" that he caught all on his own. He's hooked also. This weekend my dad backed out last minute, so I made the trip myself. I only had until noon, so I left early. There was just something about yesterday. The conditions were right for big fish. Every species that I caught was quality. I pulled up to multiple new spots that I never fished and each rewarded me with quality strikes. But, one in particular as you see from the photo was quite special. When I hooked it I thought sure it was another bass, until she came to the surface. I then quickly grabbed the net, which I never do and got her in the boat quickly. I was very humbled and thankful for the opportunity. Not often do I hoot out on the water, but I did yesterday! She taped out at 17"+ and the Berkley scale flashed 2lbs 15oz. Girth was about 14". The others were no slouch. I held them for comparison. They were in the 12-14" range.
I've been chasing these things for quite a few years since I met Scott Blair. 2lbs was a threshold I keep telling him that I wanted to break. I gotta thank Scott for all the help he's giving me over the years with these.
