I'm curious why these report forums appear to be bias towards trolling LC for salmoid species. Is there a reason why no one really wants to post reports about shoreline fishing, panfish and inland bays etc...? Personally, I'd really like to see blogs about panfishing and non-game species fish, and shoreline fishing and small boat/canoe/kayak fishing.

There's plenty of that on this forum. I fished from shore on Friday and caught over 50 crappies 23 of them were keepers. It was a great meal.

I don't see many posts on here about people fishing for trout/salmon in general. I linked up a quick write up on the blog about yesterdays trip. I must have forgotten to do so last night as I was rushed. If I have time tonight I will do another from today. I am brand new to shore fishing and open water crappie but oh man, is it addicting!
Do you have any reports to share on your trips?

Mr. mudchuck , please be advised that you are requesting and somewhat accusing people on this board of not posting reports on fishing. There are and is some great info on here that people are willing to share. You yourself have been a part of this board for over a year and have 2 posts. If you would like to see more of something we are happy to hear your suggestions. Some people may take your post as somewhat negative and aggressive.

Please don't take this the wrong way, but I did say forum(s), meaning all the blog sites, not just this one. If you visit or subscribe to any of the other ones, you'll see I posted this very topic on all of the too. I'm not "accusing" anyone, hence the reason why I said I was curious. This particular forum doesn't appear (to me anyway) to have many posts except during ice season. By me saying this, it doesn't mean I dislike the site or I'm accusing anyone. I do post on other forums that appear (again in my opinion) to have a more active following. I'm willing to share more here if this is indeed an active forum, particularly for panfish. My question as originally posted is why do most of these forums appear to be bias towards salmonoid species. Not that I'm "against" those type of posts, but it sure would be nice to see active forums/blogs/posts that are geared towards shoreline fishing, shallow water fishing & near shore (non-trolling) fishing, particularly for non-game species and more specifically panfishing & perching. As I see it, only Ben's site has a specific panfish sub-category, yet not many post there. If the moderators in this forum would start a sub-category for shoreline fish or panfishing, I'd certainly post to it. I'd love to see categoires for gills, seeds, crappie & perch. If you or anyone thinks I'm being aggressive or negative, then I apologize. However, your post to me here, appears to me, as aggressive and could be construed as offensive. As we all know, every year after ice out people line up shoulder to shoulder in known "hot spots & honey holes", yet not many will post. For what it's worth, read some of my posts last year about Mill River, Sandbar, Charcoal, Lamoille, etc...
As for current postings, I went to Mill River this weekend and watched two men pull steelies over 20" out of the falls hole back to back, then nothing after that. The suckers are in full spawn mode in the shallow rocks and the gill fishing was spotty. Guess the front that moved in turned them off as it was red hot most of the week. I managed a 1/4 pail with some nice bulls and yellow bellies 10".

Look around on the forum thats what its all about panfish . We do 4 panfish tournaments a year and most of us ditch fish. Im getting ready to start traping bait for walleye season. I fished champlain saturday with jamie and had a blast in his new lund we pulled a bunch of crappies and gills. I will have some new catagories put up if it will make or keep the forum more active. I also think you would like bobby and dylan's blog

It's funny, at least to me, that you don't post on here but want info. Sorry if thats offensive but selfish people I guess don't deserve much help in my opinion! I doubt many people are looking for your hot spots. Personally, I like like hearing about fish being caught and whats working. As for the other forums, I don't check them so your reference to your reports on them means nothing. If you can share on there, copy and paste it here as well. It only takes a second and maybe your activity here will spur more comments/reports. From the times I've met you in person, it seems like you fish enough to have solid reports to share...

X2 to what Dylan said, I'm on most of the other forums and don't see a lot reported from you. Just suspicious that you would get on here for your second post and say what you did, almost like somebody put you up to it. Share and we'll care.

Dylan's quote - "It's funny, at least to me, that you don't post on here but want info. Sorry if thats offensive but selfish people I guess don't deserve much help in my opinion! Read more: www.vtsportsman.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=general&action=display&thread=811#ixzz1qKp0z8SADylan, Where in anything did I want info? I never asked for anyone's "info" I stated I wanted to see more activity in th eposting of shoreline fishing, as ALL blogs/posts & forums appear to me to be bias towards trolling coldwater species. As I stated, I subscribe to all local forums and post to the ones that appear to have active blogs. No offense is meant to the administrators of this forum, as I've not seem much of anythiing in over a year except it becomes highly active during ice season, otherwise in my opinion it doesn't drawn much activity. Now you go and accuse me of being selfish... As for hot spots, I have none, I tell everyone where I fish and what I fish for, no secrets. For that matter, where I fish is usually for panfish and is utlimately crowded if fishing from shore since I don't have the time or money to expend travelling all over the place looking for "secret holes" Not sure why the sudden urge to spout venom at me. I make a post about what I state as "my opinion" about how things appear and you and others suddenly jump to conclusions about me as a person. For what this is worth, I've also taken the step to apologize to anyone that may have misunderstood what I said and took offense at it...you've read my original & my follow up and yet decided to post in public that you think I'm selfish & don't deserve much help and that you've met me a few times... I am not sure we have ever met, so why the tone with me I'll not understand. If this is what you think of me then I'd rather not get any help[ from you thank you. Scott, thanks for your follow up. I would very much like to see a panfishing subcategory here, I would enjoy posting to it, as I'm not much of a salmonoid or wally chaser.

ok so here's the deal mudchuck. This is a panfishing forum for the most part. How could you not catch that? here are the links to our pages, i'll make it easy for you to click on them. vtsportsman.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=generalvtsportsman.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=dbiceadventuresvtsportsman.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=todayget the idea, just because it doesn't say trout, salmon, walleye crappie gills and such, there are reports there, everywhere and they are 90% panfishing reports. D&B Ice Adventures is a Blog started by dylan and myslef specifically geared towards panfishing, guess you haven't looked at that or you wouldn't have said there is nothing out there for panfishing. We don't want you to defend yourself, just don't accuse or ask questions about this forum when the answers are right there in-front of you just spend the time browsing around. This is a great site with a lot of close friends and you upset some of us. Play it cool, try apologizing and see what happens.

One more thing mudchuck, the reason why dylan might be upset is because he literally wrote in his fishing journal on here everytime he fished, and he fished for over 500 hours or something this winter. You should check that out if you wanna see a report.

this in my opinion is way out of line , i have read his post several times. Have someone read it for you and ask for an un-bias opinion of what he said it sounds like a general statement of how most forums are. I do not feel that it was an attack on this forum and as posted we all try to be friends here. d&b is a great blog and i read it daily it has a ton of great info and is very well written but maybe he has not seen it yet. i do not feel chewing someones ass out is the way to make this forum grow and i understand some getting upset when you try so hard to make it about panfish. It is probably the best panfish forum out there. the only other post he has made was a comment on how he wished someone had a kids clinic up north as it is to far for him to travel .

First off, I will only apologize for thinking that I knew who you were. I was informed that you were someone else who I have met with a similar way of going about things. Secondly, I put a lot of time into my fishing and have enjoyed sharing reports with the people on this forum and through the blog that I am part of. I am very selective to whom I share specific information with but would not hesitate to talk about presentations, tactics, or even how I would fish some place that had perked your interest. I enjoy being part of helping others catch fish. Ask Bobby... I fish primarily with him but don't always tell him where I catch my fish. It's not that I am trying to hide it from him, its just some things are better left unsaid. Between the two of us, we have posted over 60 entries on our personal blog, which is linked up on here every single time, on topics ranging from tip-ups to flasher fishing to shore fishing - as you requested. There's a lot of info on there that we have put a lot of time into recording for all to see. Speaking totally for myself, I interpret what you said as an insult. Lastly, I joined the other forums that I thought you might be on to see other responses to your question. Maybe you just struck a nerve with me but no one else seemed to care. Usually I could care less about comments like that. As for your activity elsewhere, I didn't see much of a difference with number or quality of posts. The one that you are active on however, doesn't paint a good picture of your helpful intent. I did see a few reports on Mill as you said. Nice work bud! Here are a few of your recent posts... « Result #16 on Sept 9, 2011, 5:49pm » "Well, we were growing bored with small perch before the floodwaters, and now that we have a couple of days to fish, just not interested in more small perch (white or yellow) and we're hoping somebody out there would be kind enough to point my kid & I to a nice crappie spot."
and less than a day later « Result #15 on Sept 10, 2011, 6:28am » "17 views and not one PM or reply... "
On Waterbury Reservoir- « Result #45 on Feb 8, 2011, 10:03pm » "Can anyone let me in on where to go and set up to catch smelt & then trout at the dam?"
I have posted on here about catching smelt at Waterbury as I do it often. I love eating them and although I didn't talk about what baits I use, I did say a depth. vtsportsman.proboards.com/index.cgi?action=display&board=photo&thread=344&page=1I guess I didn't need to call you selfish. Your number of posts and request for reports on the various forums speaks towards your intent. As for this forum, I have learned far more from here than any other that I have been a part of. I have met many of the guys/gals that post on here and fish the tournaments. It's a top notch group of people in terms of both skill and personalities. I am content with the information on here and the way it is presented for now. Scott and Jamie do a great job running it.
