Well we are at it again. I have been working on a January 24th ice fishing event that will be very much like the original Trap Attacks. Dave Genz aka The Godfather of Ice Fishing will be the master of ceremonies. It will be a 2 day event and 1 day of competition. Saturday the 23rd will be an on ice youth clinic where children and families will have the opportunity to fish with any registered anglers willing to volunteer their time for 2 hours starting at 10am at the tournament site. My hopes are to have this event on southern Lake Champlain as it will be a pan fish only event. The youth clinic will be followed by prize giveaways. If anything like last year every single kid will get something. The bigger prizes will include 2 lifetime licenses and an ice fishing shelter. It will be done the same way as the shootout where every kid gets a ticket. I would rather not turn it into a competition with the kids as we will have kids from 4 to 15 years of age. Only kids between these ages will be eligible for the lifetime licenses. We have volunteers in place already and nobody is required to be at the youth clinic. It is voluntary only. Saturday night will see a ice fishing seminar by Dave Genz. Anyone registered in the event gets in the seminar free. If not registered the admission will be 10.00 and everyone that pays will receive a 10.00 Dicks gift card. And again there will be door prizes and a 50/50 raffle. The rules are there are no rules. Not really! It will be an individual event and the species will be Crappies and Bluegills/Sunnies. 3 of each. Biggest 3 Crappies wins a prize as well as biggest 3 sunnies/bluegills, There will be a grand prize for overall heaviest combined weight. All fish have to be in a bucket with water. No frozen or discolored fish will be accepted. This event will see a 90% payout of all registration fees. 10% will go into the NETS youth fund. The boundaries will be from Crown Point to Benson Landing in the town of Benson,VT. Everyone must check in before the start of the event and start from the designated launch point. The use of ATVS, snowmachines will be at the discretion of the tournament directors. In the event that ice conditions will not support these vehicles, it will then become a walk out event. Start time is 7am. End time is 1pm. The field will be cut loose from the launch at 6:30 am and competitors can drill their holes but cannot put a line in the water until 7am. This will be an honor system. Again in the event of unsafe ice we may impose boundaries and have observers. At present we are trying to sure up the location and I would like to have it out of Larabees Point access, The other option would be the Ticonderoga access. The location spots are not set in stone and if anyone has an idea please share it. Any and all input would be greatly appreciated. There will be an event no matter what if there is safe ice. And it will not matter if there is 2 competitors or 200. I hope to see you all there.

Here are the details. We are having a one day event here in Vermont on Lake Champlain on the 24th of January. Location is still up in the air but it will be held out of either the Larabees Boat Launch or the Laphams Bay Boat launch. Both of these are on the Vermont side and within 25 minutes of Lake Bomoseen. This is a feel good, fun event. 20.00 per entrant, individual event with species being 3 Crappies(White or Black) & 3 Panfish(Gills/Sunnies). The event will have a 90% payout of all registration fees and we are securing door and raffle prizes. Time of event is from 8am till 2pm. The rules are minimal. No frozen fish and they must be in water. Everyone launches from the same site and must be within the boundaries by 2pm. Other than that it is an honor system. The only rule is any unsportsmanlike behavior will be grounds for DQ. Saturday night will have a Dave Genz seminar at the Edgewater Hotel on Lake Bomoseen. Anyone registered in the event will get in the seminar for free. For those not registered the seminar will cost 10.00. 10% of all monies(Seminar,Tournament,50/50 Raffle, taken in will be used for a youth ice fishing fund, education, scholarships for conservation camps, lifetime licenses, and further Youth Clinics. For any questions please call or visit or site. Phone:802-265-8285
