Members or Non Members

Well I just thought I would throw this out there we had talked about it this Winter , Everyone can go to the Forum Member Non Member to read the Posts , I was just curious to what your thoughts were on this ? We are seeming to grab as many members as we should . And I was curious why ? Is it that we allow everyone to read and they don't need to register or share there's with us ? What are your thoughts please ... We need your input

yeah right maybe we need a spot for members only to discuss the when where and how right now i think we have alot of what are they doing but i am not giving my secrets just a thought

Well that is great input , I appreciate that . I just wanted to throw that out there and see what our members do think , And I like us to make a decision as a group , Cause we are all are helping the Forum by Posting things , Don't have to be your Great secrets , But we should have something setup like the Champlain crappie Crew one . That us that do talk it up or whatever would be good ,

There is a spot and you need a password to view it. But some of us need to think about things if they want to be a part of the gang. I'm going to keep my mouth shut I guess sorry just venting. Good job Wey and I'll let you know how I want this set up.

I know I'm new to this site and haven't shared much, but up till a few weeks ago I fished trout the majority of the time. Since the beginning of March and a few trips with Barrebobber I'm hooked on the panfish. I'm already dreaming of next year and how little I plan on going for trout! This site seems to fit the future I see for my hardwater seasons.

I like the vibe on this site much more than the shanty and I see more potential for quality help from fellow anglers. Since I've joined, I have clicked on the crappie crew link and been like- "Man I bet there is some good info in there!" If the site becomes locked to just members, I would be curious if someone joins do they have instant access to everything because I'm sure a lot of people would join just to see. I don't ever expect anyone to dish out their hotspots and techniques but it's hard to imagine posting where/how you catch your fish when anyone in the world can see it.

With all things considered, I would be more inclined to share in a locked site.

I like the forum as it is . I learned a lot from Scot's journals the first year or so, and finally started my own journal....at least when I catch something. There's good general information available , and nobody gives away their hotspots, unless they want to. I think the forum wouldn't attract many new members if all the "Good Stuff" was locked in a special forum , only available to a priivileged few.

If you want to share special information with just a few people, there's always PM .

i think alot of the thought is how to make it bigger and involve everyone with more members but remember a guest can also be a member if you have not logged in permanently and have to log in each time and do not log in you show as a guest not a member

Wey no vote is needed I want it the way it is and let everyone see the forum Thanks for looking out for the members but alot of the guests are members that don't log in.

To me the concept of a forum like this is to share information with others. It does get frustrating when you share, and others share, but the percentage of shares vs. users is so abstract. The idea of the password protected area was to do that exactly, protect those who share opening and frequently from getting burned. I think this should stay in use and we should be using it more. To get that password ones needs to show that they want to be a part of a group that doesn't withhold information. We all love to fish and thats not going to change. This forum is great and is an important tool for my fishing success, as is all the people that are on it. I owe scott and jamie so much for what they have taught me in the past three years, so thanks guys. I do not hesitate to share any info I've got with them, and people like that are always welcome at any of my spots or in my boat. Lets not forget what the object of this forum is. It is expected that you have input and share advice. ok i'm done for now, just had to vent a little. See you all soon, i'm ditch fishing somewhere this weekend.

I always had a tough time with the open forum, I hate to liken this place to iceshanty but that site has ruined a lot of fishing for people who had fished certain places for generations through word of mouth and friendships. A lot of small groups have broken off there and created their own places, such as this site, nice and local. I am 100% with Bobbby on the purpose of the password section, a small number of us openly share info and know we can expect the same from each other. I have not fished the lake in weeks and will certainly ask and discuss the current fishing when I am able to get back out. Right now I am in super awesome salt lake city, on a training for work, this place sucks. (but it is nestled beneath some awesome mtn ranges)

i think there should be a guest page? maybe just some older post to show how the forum works to see if the want to join. or even only some links open to guest. just a suggestion. I know i didnt post much or even get on much but with work and the weather this year it just seemed to clash. now that i have a little bit more of a set schedule i will be able to particapate a little more in the forum.
