forage minnow technique

I see a lot of the Crappie in magazines with forage minnow in their mouth, including the article in Ice Fishing magazine with Jamies write up,which I believe also showed a forage minnow in the crapps mouth.

Here is what I'm wondering,what kind if jigging technique do you guys use/recommend with this jig? I have several and have caught fish on them jigging like I do a genz bug,tight bounces but it seems like there is a better way. I also raise it up and let it drop sometimes.

Thoughts? I would like to catch the new state record black Crappie on the forage minnow and have it in the fishes mouth for the picture.

I've been seeing a lot of this too. This might be something we try at our night spot!
