Family fun, great friends, awesome tournaments thats what really matters. I have been fishing these tournaments for a few years now and I have the time of my life doing them. Lots of new friends and learning different tactics is worth the money to fish these events. After the last event (which was a tuff bite), I heard through the grapevine that people were talking about possible cheating going on. Well myself I pre fish for every tournament, (the day before Dillenbech and 2 days before Mallets). With that being said there is a good friend of our familly that is a legend in the BASS fishing industry that taught me that you cannot substitute time on the water (FORZEN or NOT), both events so far the winner or the second place finisher were some of the very few that were out pre-fishing. I fished Laphams today 2-17-13, possibly 1 other tournament competitor was there and off the ice before 8AM. I plan on being down there Tuesday through Friday everyday daylight to 2pm (tournament hours). Practice does not always make perfect but it sure does help on tournament day,(as proven in the first 2 events). Yes the bite it tuff down south right now but is that any reason to add perch all of a sudden to the limit to be weighed in, it's no surprise that the gills and seeds of Laphams are not the biigest, but to just make a rule up half way through the season in my eyes is not the right thing to do. I have heard conflicting stories of this new added rule and I know the truth will never come out but maybe it should. To the people who are not happy with the end results of the first 2 tournamenst, if you did not go and practice then you have no right to complain...(PLAIN AND SIMPLE). To Scott and Jamie this is by NO means an attack at you guys, this is just my opinion so please dont take this the wrong way, you 2 gentlemen do a OUTSTANDING job with these events and are just trying to please everyone (IMPOSSIBLE). To all other tounament fishermen the moral of my whole rant and rave here is that this tournament series was designed for CRAPPIES and SEEDS (gills) the newly added perch category in my eyes was put in to place to please a select few people that are unhappy with there fishing abilities. Remeber everyone OPINIONS ARE LIKE A$$HOLES EVERYONE HAS ONE AND THEY ALL STINK, this is just my opinion take it however you want. Good Luck to all and see you guys on the ice...stay safe everyone. Hey Brian Thanks for the feed back. I want to try to clear a few things up. As for hearing anyone complain about cheating this is news to me I think we all do a great job at policing these events. and I promise you if we hear any complaints about this. We will address all parties involved including the person who makes the complaint. I believe that if you feel someone did something wrong you should be man enough to stand up and state what you seen. Just like Ricky did last tournament. As for the new rule change we will never hold back information to you guys (the fisherman) without you there is no tournament series period, so if you have a question you will not get a sugar coated answer from us, you all deserve the truth. With that being said the reason for the rule change is not based on complaints from fisherman. Scott and I have wanted to add Perch for awhile now I will list the exact same reasons that we came up with to make our final decision before we posted it last night. adding Perch will add new strategies for putting together the 6 fish bag adding Perch will help with the transition to some of the new lakes we are thinking about adding next year. adding Perch will help make this a true Pan fish Tournament adding Perch will help spread out some of the weights when the Crappie bite is tough These are the major factors that really helped us make the decision. I won't lie it's tough being a tournament director thank god Scott and I work well together and together we have a little bit of patience. We also want you all to know that we try our best and still learn ways to make this better as we go along. We understand that we can never please everyone but we do our best to try. We also want you to know that even though we take some of these post to heart. We want you to always have a voice. And it should always be heard. I truly hope that no matter if you agree or disagree with the change we hope you will still support our decision. and we do value your opinions Thank You, James and Scott

I feel like if you're adding another species then you should up the bag limit, or change the number of each fish you can weigh in. I myself am with Brian. I don't like the idea of adding perch to the list. Yes it means adding more strategy and more movement to your day of fishing which will take away from the time you have to catch crappie, and they have been hard enough to catch at most of the tournaments. The other thing that seems a little awkward about this is that it's happening half way through the series. People have fished all winter with learning new spots and areas at the locations for the gills seeds and crappies where the events are help. Now there is a new twist thrown in half way through. . . . Ultimately it's Jamie and Scott's decision and we should all respect that. These events are a blast I fish all winter and by far the highlight of the season are these events.

Ok, this is my opinion. Yes it means adding more strategy and more movement to your day of fishing ,which will take away from the time you have to catch crappie, I do not see how it takes time away from catching crappie. You do not have to add them to your bag, what this does do is add a panfish to a panfish tournament which in turn might increase the number of fisherman. Bob, i am not trying to give you shit just expressing my opinion . I also feel it is the right choice, do to the fact fishing does suck down there and people not catching fish may not return, creating a loss of revenue. I think if we can draw more people and stretch out the number of winners this could take off and become one of the better tournaments in the northeast. It already has some great sponsors. Bryan the talk of cheaters is imo created out of jealousy. This is something that can never be stopped and in some cases cheating has occurred, rather it was intentional or other wise, only those involved have the answer. I feel adding perch to the playing field is a good choice because it may bring in a lot more fisherman that have no idea how to catch crappie or bluegill, sunnies. This is a sport by a select few but is it not the goal to bring more people into the field and educate them on how it is done and how much fun it is?What i do think should be added is a board of directors to help with these decisions so all points of interest are cover before it is unveiled as rule.if this was to happen i would love to be involved as i feel this tournament series is doing what they do for the right reason. i would suggest a board of 7 to keep an odd vote and that regardless of the choice made it still could be veto by Scott and Jamie as it is there series. Dody great idea on the board of directors, I am all about that idea, lets get something in the works to help Jamie and Scott... I talked to Scott the other night and told him first off I am and I know my parents are HONORED that you guys let us from (NY) come over and fish the tournaments. I understand that people could be jealous or whatever there case may be but lets get to the facts of a FISHING TOURNAMENT, there can only be 1 winner, by adding another category are you really making it fair for everyone, or adding to someones chance of winning the tournament. Fishing is fishing, not catching. I completely understand wanting to get more people involved and have no problems with that, as I talked to Scott for an hour the other night and explained that to him. Just like Bobby said the decision is ultimatley up to Jamie and Scott, and I know as a competitor there decision is final and have no problems with that. Like I said in my first post, practice does not always make perfect but it sure does help, To the people that do not want to put in the time and effort you have no voice of concern when the people that do practice always win or come in second. I go out on the ice with zero expectations every tournament, its not about winning to me its about family and friends, If everybody that reads this takes 1 thing to heart, is this, remember no matter if the tournament has 3 people or 300 people in it, YOU ARE NOT FISHING AGAINST THE OTHER COMPETITORS YOU ARE FISHING AGAISNT THE FISH, AND ALL YOU CAN DO IS WEIGH IN THE BEST FISH YOU CAN AT HE END OF THE DAY. Dont sit back and make excuses or complain that the same people always win. The best fishermen in the world have the understanding that it's not about the money or what place you finish it's about outsmarting the fish and doing the best YOU can do. As far as the fishing down south, yes right now it does suck but that means it SUCKS for EVERYONE, people who enter into a tounrament enter for the CHANCE to win just like playing the lottery. OH and Dylan I second your motion for poutine, rockstar idea. Again to everyone fish hard and fish agaisnt the fish and when your standing up there with your plaque and prize money just remember you beat the fish not the other competitors.
Stay Safe All Brian Doyle

I fished the first two tournaments this year, I did enjoy it but I prefer solitude when I fish and can't get used to having people fishing right beside me. I guess I don't see fishing as a competitive sport, some do ...I don't . I do like the challenge of catching larger fish vs more fish , but I can do that on my own . Good luck with the tournament.

PS: Scott/James , see you at the Kids Day on Sunday .

i think its a good idea to add perch, there are some smoker perch in that bay at times and are fun to catch , pluss it does add to the mental aspect of tourney fishing whitch is a big part of finishing in the money , i love to fish and catch fish thats why we all compeet in these tourneys and to chat with friends we meet at the tourneys , i do think that preefishing does help your outcome but ive noticed that most just follw who they think or heres knows where they are which is part of the game in tourney fishing and is expected from most because cant get time off from work to preefish or live hours away
